- the friendly face of health and safety -CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is a brand new qualification that will provide your employees with fundamental health and safety knowledge.
Based on the extremely successful CIEH Foundation Certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace, it has been completely revised with new and updated content and is complemented by the second edition of the Health and Safety First Principles course book.
Will it be relevant for my business?
This qualification can be tailored to business and individual needs to make the learning experience relevant and fit for purpose. What is 'Level 2'?
Good question. As an awarding body, the CIEH develops a wide range of vocationally related qualifications that are accredited within the national qualifications frame work at various skill levels. These skill levels have recently been revised and Level 2 is now aimed at those in the work place who participate in activities related to the subject area.
In the case of health and safety, that means every employee.
Do my staff need any qualifications to enrol on a course?
No, they do not need any prior knowledge because this qualification provides a strong introduction and detailed overview of good practice in health and safety in the workplace. What happens after the course?
All those that pass the multiple choice assessment receive a nationally accredited certificate to prove they have participated in a training programme and successfully completed the assessment. Employees can use the certificate to demonstrate the level of health and safety knowledge they have achieved.
And that's it?
Well, employees will be able to make full use of what they've learnt to protect themselves and those in the workplace. If, in the unfortunate event that something does go wrong and your business is put under the legal spotlight, you will be able to demonstrate that you did everything necessary to protect health safely at work.JSS Associates CIEH Approval

First Aid At Work Regulations

Where adequate provision is in place under pre-October 2009 rules, changing to the new training regime only needs to be applied to individual first aid personnel at the expiry of their current certification.
It must be stressed however that the renewal requirements for fully qualified first aiders remains unchanged in respect of the time constraints for qualifications to remain valid.
Another important factor is when considering training providers, ensure that the training provided is compliant for regulatory purposes. Only HSE approved providers can deliver such training. Confirming the status of a provider can be checked at:- www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid and following the link to approved organisations. Our trainer has HSE approval.
Manual Handling
If your job involves moving (lifting / lowering / pushing / pulling etc.) and/or supporting of loads by hand or by means of bodily force, then this is MANUAL HANDLING.
At least one third of reported 'over-three-day' injuries are caused by workplace accidents relating to manual handling in some way.
Employers are required to provide information and/or training for employees to enable them to carry out handling tasks safely.
Let us take the backache out your handling training with our cost effective awareness course.
Induction training
Induction training is a legal requirement. Employers have a formal duty to provide new employees with all relevant information and training relating to health and safety.
It is a vital requirement for new starters. Induction training ensures new starters settle in quickly.
Induction training is about the basics that seasoned employees all take for granted: where the notice-board is; holidays, sickness; where is the canteen; where are the toilets.
They also need to understand health and safety rules, and of course the job they're required to do.
